We are working closely with The Bill Sims Wool and Mohair Research Laboratory, housed at the Texas A&M University Agricultural Research and Extension Center (now Texas AgriLife Research), San Angelo, Texas to have our English Angora and Giant Angora "Fiber Tested."
The OFDA200 is an instrument that is used by the research center to rapidly, accurate measurement of diameter, length, curvature (crimp), mean and distribution of many the fiber.
Micron count/measurement is the expressed micron average of the diameters of the fibers in the sample that was evaluated.
We chose to have our fiber tested to learn more about what our show line is producing in terms of fiber characteristics. Very few angora fiber breeders if any have there fiber tested.
100% Angora English Angora or Giant Angora wool available right from the bunny Our "raw" fiber is Graded as follows:Grade 1-Prime/Premium Fiber has a stable length no less than 4 inches (often times it is longer due to show coats and when they are clipped down).
