Availability/For Sale/Terms of Sale

~Last updated and current availability as of April 7, 2024~

Are you looking for a show prospect or just a loving pet? When it comes to showing rabbits and cavies, quality matters. Of course, even the best specimens may display minor imperfections here and there; but hey, nobody’s perfect! Are you looking for a prize-winning rabbit or cavy? If so, then look no further we occasionally offer show prospects, based on stringent criteria such as physical appearance, coat quality, etc. according to the breed standards. Not every animal can become a show animal, at times we do have animals who are better suited as loving pets. Often these are retired from being shown or producing the next generation of Fuzzibutt’s. They may have a visual disqualification such as a white mark on a solid-colored body which would prevent it from being shown. Our pet-quality animals do not automatically come with a pedigree, we offer the option for an additional fee.

To ensure top-quality rabbits and cavies within each breed, we regularly assess our stock and make strategic decisions about who is staying and who we can part with. By focusing on our goals, it allows us to constantly evaluate our animals, as we make those tuff decisions on who we are keeping and who we can move on. Our aim is to produce and show animals that meet the American Rabbit Breeders Association’s Standard of Perfection.

Now let’s get down to the Nitty Gritty of the Terms of Sale…

As a prospective Fuzzibutt’s rabbit or cavy owner, it is your responsibility to read and agree to our Terms of Sale listed below before inquiries are made. Before making inquiries about a rabbit/cavy, be sure to have a plan in place to acquire it.

When inquiring about a rabbit/cavy, it is YOUR responsibility to investigate transport options. Please note that investigating transportation is Mandatory if you and I are not meeting in person.

Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required on any rabbit/cavy purchase, unless other arrangements have been made. The balance is due upon pick up (if meeting us) or before the animal is handed over to a transporter. We prefer cash but occasionally will accept PayPal and Venmo depending on the situation.

When placing a deposit on a rabbit/cavy, please plan on meeting within a week. You have two weeks to make transport arrangements if needed. After the initial payment, a weekly care fee of $20 will be added to cover feeding, hay, and basic grooming. Show grooming and care will incur additional fees based on coat length.

If Fuzzibutt’s Rabbitry & Caviary cancels the sale, paid money will be refunded. However, if it is the buyer who chooses not to follow through with the sale, no refund will be given.

Transportation: Before hiring a transporter to move an animal from one location (from me) to another (you), it is important to read over each transporter’s terms and conditions beforehand. It is also important to discuss their payment with them in advance as well as check their references thoroughly. I DO NOT endorse anyone. Once the animal leaves my possession, I am no longer responsible for its care or transport. Which means IF an issue arises during its transport; make sure you have familiarized yourself fully with the details of your chosen transporters policy if an issue arises.

Buyers should carefully examine their new purchase at the time of pickup. At the time of sale, your new addition will be healthy to the best of our knowledge after we inspect them for basic health issues such as ear canker, body condition, nails trimmed and malocclusion. Which is a standard practice among breeders, exhibitors, and hobbits.

Weight: Rest assured; we do not breed underweight animals (rabbits/cavies). Each rabbit must make senior weight. For Giant Angoras this means SENIOR weight after being sheared, per our own standards. We do not use underweight Flemish Giants or Giant Angoras in our breeding program.

We do not guarantee that our show prospect Flemish Giants or Giant Angoras will reach the minimum weight set forth by the Standard of Perfection (SOP) but it has been our experience that good husbandry, conditioning, and genetics do play a big role in our animals achieving this goal.

Preventives: To ensure the health of our show-worthy herd, we use anti-parasite preventives like Revolution, Ivermectin, and Advantage to prevent mites, fleas, etc. We routinely worm our rabbits and cavies.

Fertility: Fertility is not guaranteed due to multiple variables, including care, temperature, housing conditions and stress. It is a gamble. Thus, making each acquisition an uncertain investment in terms of breeding capabilities.

Age: Rabbits cannot be sold as pets before 12 weeks of age or as a show prospect before 16 weeks of age. Guinea Pigs must be at least 6 weeks old to be sold as a pet and 16 weeks as a show prospect, per our own standards. Any sooner and we do not feel the animal will transition easily in its new surroundings. Sales of rabbits and guinea pigs is strictly prohibited before the specified ages listed above.

Pets are NOT sold with a pedigree! I will be happy to provide you with a birth certificate if you would like. If you feel you must have a pedigree, then you are paying the brood/show prospect price which is higher than the pet/fiber price.

Brood/show prospects are sold with pedigrees.

Giant Angora Buck

Despite his friendliness, this guy lacks the qualities needed to stay here as a show bunny. We have high expectations, and he didn't make the team. But he is very loving and would make a great lap bunny for someone.  He was recently sheared the week of March 5, 2024.
